Goodbye cake

December 13, 2007

This is for my last day of work, which is tomorrow. It’s my stock standard chocolate cake, but with a layer of ganache and sliced strawberries in the middle (I should do that more often!). I used bubble wrap to create the wall, then stacked it high with chocolate curls, chocolate-dipped strawberries, and piped chocolate stars. My flatmates seem to be impressed; here’s hoping my workmates react similarly! 🙂

  1. […] Cake Recipe December 31, 2007 No pretty pictures today; I did deliver yet another copy of my Goodbye Cake to a friend this morning, but I figure there’s no point posting photos of that, since […]

  3. Aw, aren’t you just so sweet? Thanks for your kind words.

  4. I can’t actually see the cake, but if you put as much care into it as you did in your decorating, it must have been a masterpiece. I can imagine it being a little hard to cut afterwards, no? I remember making a cake with similar (but not as elaborate) decoration (ie chocolate wall and fruit on the top) and it took two chefs and a hot knife to share it.

  5. If I remember rightly we ate all the strawberries first, so it wasn’t too bad to cut. 🙂 Definitely worth it for the expressions on people’s faces when I brought it in!
